Conceptual description:
Vegetal pattern gathers around the border of the composition, referencing foliage of wild-grown wasabi in an ornamental motif. Hugged by the rigid silhouette of a pecan, tactile flowing forms grow from the centre, reflecting the rich viscosity of maple. Together these elements explore the visual tension and harmony between sharp, sweet, and grounded.

Conceptual Description:
Strong staccato melodies are layered over legato lines to create a textural contrast that audibly emphasises the juxtaposed flavour palates between wasabi, maple and pecan. The warm, mellow timbre of the keyboard accentuates the earthy notes of the flavour pairing, fostering harmony across sensory elements. Accompanying Triune Sweetness, this piece invites audiences to engage in a multi-sensory experience that interweaves sound, sight and taste.

Ritual Revival
The Experience
Silken ribbons of wasabi cheesecake are piped over roasted pecans blended with salted maple. Bright wasabi pearls burst across the palate, releasing sharp, rising heat, while drops of salted maple bring a slow, golden sweetness.
Crunch from the pecans grounds the experience, softening the intensity before the wasabi lifts again. The dish moves between warmth, sweetness and sudden brightness, creating a dynamic sensory interplay.
The Flavour Science
Wasabi’s distinctive heat comes from isothiocyanates, volatile compounds that stimulate receptors in the nose and sinuses. Sweet maple softens this sharpness while enhancing aroma perception, allowing the wasabi to feel brighter and more expressive.
The oils and salt in pecans coat the palate, gently tempering the heat while also carrying flavour. This combination both grounds the intensity and subtly invigorates the wasabi sensation, creating a layered progression of sweetness, warmth and spice.
